The Yemeni government and the Houthi rebels have agreed to call a ceasefire in the area surrounding the strategic city port of Hudaydah in UN-brokered peace talks held in Sweden. This has not spread to the rest of the country, however, hopes are high that a more widespread end to the hostilities can be reached, and in doing so put an end to the worst humanitarian disasters in years.
Troops from both sides will withdraw over the next few days and the UN will then oversee things on the ground, which will hopefully include getting badly needed aid into the country.
