A woman in the UK has been jailed after she stabbed her boyfriend.
The reason she stabbed him? He texted her happy birthday instead of calling her…
47 year old Janet Kearns reportedly came very angry after he texted instead of calling, and replied “thank you” before going to his residence – with the belief he was cheating on her.
When she got there, she confronted Alan, her boyfriend, and asked why he didn’t call. She then stabbed him in the arm with a 6 inch knife, severing an artery in the process.
After she left him bleeding out, he called for emergency help and was quickly rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery. He has since had additional surgery since that day, and even a year on he finds it hard to move his right hand.
The attack took place in May last year, around 2 years after they started dating, meaning they got together in May 2017.
Alan told police: “That day is a day I will never forget. I thought I might die.
“I try not to think about what happened.
“How could she be so callous just walking past me as I was on the floor bleeding to death?
“When I was lying on the lobby floor losing blood and getting weaker by the minute?
“If it was not for the quick response of police officers and paramedics I would not be here today. I will always be grateful to them.
“I still don’t have feeling in my right, index and middle fingers and part of my thumb. I might have to have an operation on my hand.
“The scars will always be with me mentally and physically.
“I have struggled financially and did not feel safe remaining in my own home.”
Prosecutors said the woman is lucky she isn’t facing a murder charge after the attack, because things could have ended much worse for her victim.
She was sentenced to 6 years in prison last year after admitting GBH.
