Police can confirm that the two bodies found on the south of Scotland shore were those of a couple whose car washed up on a beach two days earlier.
Police were called after a woman’s body was found in Port William near Newton Stewart at 08:15 on Saturday. The body of a man was discovered nearby at 08:45.
Heavy rain had caused flooding on the Drummore coastal road the day before the couple had gone missing. Their car was found washed up on the beach on Thursday. Their bodies were found on the opposite side of where their car was found.
