Members of the RMT Rail Workers’ Union have started a fresh week of strikes which will affect a lot of people traveling. Every Train has been canceled from today up until Saturday with Thursday being one day for some trains on.
The train strike started today, Tuesday the 13th of December 2022, and running all the way through to Saturday, however, the trains will be running on Thursday but due to strikes, there may not be many.
They have walked out for a four-day strike.
It will mean the near-total shutdown of Britain’s railways – only 20% of services are expected to run.
“This happening in the week before Christmas is obviously going to hurt because everybody’s trying to bolster their bank balance in order to deal with the first quarter of next year, which are traditionally quiet months,”
“So we really need to make as much revenue as we can leading up to Christmas to buffer us for the beginning of next year.
“Our post pandemic recovery was very strong, the city continues to be a very attractive proposition.
“York will get through this and recover.” Said Sarah Czarnecki, the vice chair of the Hospitality Association in York.
