Well, as creative as the crime of drug trafficking can go…

A 38 year old woman, who hasn’t been named, was caught smuggling drugs in Brazil by using a Watermelon that was hollowed out and filled with drugs. She then wore the fruit full of drugs under her dress, and posed as a pregnant woman.

She was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after passengers on the bus she was on, that was headed to Rio, became suspicious of her stomach bump. (Imagine how awkward it would have been if they were wrong!).

Inside the “bump”, once she was taken into custody, police found 2kg of cocaine in the shape of bricks, and she later admitted the drugs were headed for Rio De Jeneiro.

Sao Paulo state military police acknowledged the strange and “creative” attempt of smuggling drugs, and said in a Facebook post: “This Monday (30), military police officers of the 23th Interior Military Police Battalion arrested a woman for drug trafficking in Guar ará. The criminal had a fake belly made with watermelon.

“The ROCAM team (Ostensive Rounds with Motorcycle Support) received a report that a woman was transporting drugs on a bus to Rio de Janeiro. During the inquiries, they suspected a woman who claimed to be pregnant.”

They continued: “During the personal search, to the team surprise, the belly was fake. A watermelon containing 4 base cocaine paste bricks was located, approximately 2 kg.

“The criminal confessed that she took drugs in Paraguay and that she would be taking it to Rio de Janeiro. She was arrested and driven to Guar ará Police Duty.”
