Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri isn’t a real champion, according to a Swiss manager.

Shaqiri netted against rivals Everton.

This year in the 2019/20 season, Shaqiri only made 6 appearances for the reds, with his only goal coming against rivals Everton in December. This is more than enough to warrant a premier league medal, which I’m sure he is delighted to receive.

Despite the high of winning the league, he’s been unfortunately affected by a few injuries this season, which have caused some rather major setbacks. He has previously won a league title before, but it was in Germany in 2014, with former club Bayern Munich.

But this time, FC Sion boss Arno Rossini, for some reason, had a few not so kind things to say about the Swiss attacker.

“Xherdan is not a champion,” Rossini told a local media outlet .

“We certainly cannot say that he left his mark with the teams with which he won.

“Not with the big guys at least.

“He was the protagonist in Basel, certainly not at Bayern or Liverpool .

“Let’s say that over the years he has often followed the games of his teams as a spectator, sitting in the best places. And millions have also been paid for it.

“This, taking everything into account, makes me think that the Swiss is not one who always gives his best.

“If not as owner, at least one important reserve role, from first choice on the bench, (he) would otherwise have managed to carve it (a place in the team) out. Instead nothing. Only the crumbs, for a disheartening situation.

“Of course, Xherdan is filling the bulletin board and seeing his bank account grow dramatically; I don’t know how many, in ten years, will remember him thinking about the great teams in which he has played.”

It’s not clear if Xherdan has responded to these disheartening words, but either way, he should be proud to have another title under his belt – 1 more than the critical manager, that’s for sure!

All fans can hope for in the future is that Shaqiri’s injuries don’t hold him back anymore, so he can net more goals for the reds – he’s currently got 7 in 40 appearances since joining from Stoke in 2018.
