A Morrison’s security guard has gone viral after a photo was posted of him keeping man’s best friend dry on a seemingly rainy day.

Man’s best friend.

Ethan Dearman, the man in the hi-vis pictured holding an umbrella to keep a dog outside the store he works at dry, went viral this week as a passerby photographed him doing the good deed.

Mel, who posted the picture of Ethan and his pal, captioned the tweet: “Shout out to this @Morrisons security man keeping this good boy dry. He said ‘well you never know how dogs feel about the rain’.”

Once she found out the name of the security guard, she tagged him in the post, which has now had over. 100k likes and 15k retweets.

Once security guard Ethan saw the tweet, he replied to it with: “I didn’t think I’d go viral on twitter like this. I knew I was making people smile but this is something else entirely, lol.”

And when someone asked why the dog was tied there in that weather in the first place, Ethan explained: “It wasn’t raining when he was tied there and since I can’t move another’s dog I thought using an umbrella would be a good compromise.”

It’s clear everyone loved the tweet, with people replying with things like: “And people like this is why there are still burning embers within the human race. X”

And even Morrison’s themselves retweeted Mel’s post, after someone else replied thanking Ethan for being such a gent.

Thank you for being so kind, it feels in short supply at the moment. I hope that the dog’s owner appreciated your lovely efforts and that @Morrisons recognises that they have a wonderful employee. I’m sure if they could the dog would have thanked you.
