Detectives have begun a search in a property’s garden for human remains after there were reports of a child’s death.
The move follows information given to the police about a death at a house. This was given in 2020 and is located on Clarence Road, in the Handsworth area of Birmingham.
There have already been two arrests due to this. A man aged 40 and a woman aged 41 have been arrested and charged with neglect and are on bail after being arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child.
West Midlands Police said the man had been remanded after appearing in court. The pair were arrested on Friday.
The woman is still needing to appear in court and will be due to appear before the same court day on Tuesday.
So far, those who live near the searched property are not involved in the investigation the forces have already stated.
Det Insp Joe Davenport has stated this;
“We have acted swiftly on information and our inquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what has happened.
“I understand that this will come as a shock to the local community but I would ask you not to speculate on the circumstances.”
