The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have gone more modern in naming their baby son Archie, although they have kept some tradition with his full name “Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor”. Archie has become a popular name of late and in 2017 it was the 18th most popular boy’s name.
The name originally an abbreviation of Archibold was thought quite old fashioned but since 2003 it has been consistently in the top 50 most popular boys names in the UK and is well known in the mainstream thanks to the character Archie Andrews in the Archie comics which is now a popular Netflix show Riverdale.
