Police are searching for two young men after they licked their hands in a Sainsbury’s supermarket and proceeded to wipe them in fresh food, door handles and meat.

They were described as being in their early 20s.

The pair are said to have been wearing black jackets and tracksuit bottoms, when they entered the Sainsbury’s store in Morecambe on Saturday. The incident is said to have happened at around 1:45pm, and once alerted to the men’s actions, workers had to throw out product and disinfect the whole store.

During the crisis we’re in currently, it was described as “despicable” behaviour.

“That anyone could think this sort of behaviour is appropriate or amusing even in normal times is beyond me, but at this time of crisis when many people have been faced with empty shelves in some shops is flabbergasting,” he said.

“It is utterly despicable and I would appeal for anyone who knows who these people are to get in touch.”
