A video has gone viral that shows a police woman accusing a black women her and her colleague stopped of “jumping” on the BLM “bandwagon”.

The video was shared to twitter by the pairs daughter, after police stopped and asked for details citing the reason as “because we can”.

When the woman filming stood up to the officer, the officer replied: “You’ve just jumped on the bandwagon in the current climate.”

In the video, it appears the police want to speak to the couple because they had “paid attention” to the police in their vehicle as they passed them prior to the incident. The police wanted to check the driving licence of the pair.

The tweet, posted by the daughter Maja, was captioned: “My parents were stopped and questioned in their own driveway for ‘driving a motor vehicle on the road’, and ‘because they can’.

“It’s suspicious to walk from your car to your house, while black. The UK is not innocent.”

Maja said in an interview that her first thought after seeing the video footage is that other people need to see the video.

“Everything we are fighting for is happening where we stand, to the point that it’s my parents on their doorstep,” she said.

“After everything calmed down my main feeling was anger because this shouldn’t have been happening.”

Asked about an official apology due to be given to her parents on Friday, she replied: “Until we see some sort of change in bias training I don’t think I’m really impressed, but the apology was welcomed.”

The pair of officers are believed to work for Suffolk police, who say they’re investigating the incident internally. Replies to the tweet are mostly calling for the woman in the video to be suspended, and saying the couple walking outside their home deserve an apology.
