The Prime Minister has officially came out and said that we are past the peak of the Coronavirus.

Last night at his first daily briefing for over a month, he said that scientists close to him are all in agreement that the UK is past the peak of the virus.

He also promised a plan to help slowly phase us out of lockdown, and achieve things such as getting people back to school and others back in the workplace. The “comprehensive plan” is set to be revealed next week some time.

“We have so many reasons to be hopeful for the long term” he said.

“The UK is leading international efforts to find a vaccine. Today Oxford University has announced a partnership with Astrazeneca to develop what they believe could soon be a means of inoculating ourselves against this disease.

“It is thanks to that massive collective effort to shield the NHS that we avoided an uncontrollable and catastrophic epidemic where the reasonable worst-case scenario was 500,000 deaths. I can confirm that for the first time we are past the peak of this disease. We are past the peak and on the downward slope.”

It has also been suggested by other ministers that such a vaccine, when properly developed, will be available to NHS workers first, to help keep them safe when tackling the virus and saving lives.
