Cleaning giants Dettol have been forced to issue a statement saying that “under no circumstance” should their products be ingested or injected.

This is after US president Donald Trump suggested it could help kill the coronavirus.

At his press conference on Thursday, President Trump “interestingly” suggested that scientists should research whether we can inject the body with disinfectants to kill the coronavirus.

“I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute,” he said. “Is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.”

Since then, RB, the owners of Dettol have said: “Due to recent speculation and social media activity, RB has been asked whether internal administration of disinfectants may be appropriate for investigation or use as a treatment for coronavirus.

“As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body. As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information.”

Trump also suggested that the body could be exposed to a lot of UV light, in order to kill the virus. His comments have sparked outrage in medical professionals, and been called dangerous.

It seems that Trump has been left in the dark regarding a lot or medical practices, and not been told what is safe for the body and what isn’t. It’s important that the US medical leaders inform everyone who needs to be informed about what is safe and what isn’t, as this sort of misinformation could cause a lot of damage.
