New Zealand has reportedly rid their country of coronavirus for the second time

NZ have been praised for the way they’ve handled the pandemic.

They are at the lowest level of alert, with no cases out in the public currently. There was a small outbreak in Auckland, but it was contained locally, with lockdown measures in place.

3 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, but they were all in quarantine.

New Zealand’s Health Minister Chris Hipkins claims it’s a ‘big milestone’ to rid the virus from this island a second time.

He added: “The systems that have been developed and strengthened since our first wave of COVID-19 have worked very effectively to chase down the virus, isolate it, and eliminate it.

“It’s really good news, but as always we cannot sit back. Constant vigilance and team work, with everyone playing their part to ensure we stay on top of the virus, needs to be our new normal for some time to come.”

The virus was initially rid from the community in April, but after 100 days of no new infections, there was a small outbreak in a City resulting in 186 new infections.

Since coronavirus has been eradicated again, the Wallaby v All Blacks game can now go ahead on the 18th, to many peoples delight.
