A Texas man has been jailed for 30 days after posting a video online of him licking ice cream in Walmart and putting it back.

The video of 24 year old D’Adrien Anderson was shared on social media last August, which showed him doing the act in a Walmart supermarket. Shop surveillance later showed him going back and buying the ice cream he licked. The incident happened on the 26th of August last year, and when sentenced, he was also given a six-month suspended sentence, 100 hours of unpaid work, a $1,000 fine, and was ordered to pay $1,565 to the ice cream company.

The mans father returned to the shop afterwards with a receipt, to prove he bought the tainted product, yet Blue Bell Creameries replaced all of the ice cream in the freezer as a precaution, which cost them $1,565 (which D’Adrien was made to cover).

In a statement released at the time of his arrest, Walmart said: “If food is tampered with, or a customer wants to leave the impression that they left behind adulterated product, we will move quickly with law enforcement to identify, apprehend and prosecute those who think this is a joke – it is not.”

Anderson pleaded guilty earlier this year to misdemeanour criminal mischief; his mugshot is above.
