In the UK, the excess Coronavirus deaths continue to fall.

In fact, they are at the lowest point since the entire pandemic began in the UK, with 55 new deaths being recorded yesterday. Despite this, people are still dying every day due to the virus, and 1 death is one death too many.

The PM has received criticism for relaxing lockdown restrictions arguably “too quickly” by some scientists standards, but all 5 of the governments requirements are being met, meaning lockdown can be relaxed further. Primary school are said to be staying mostly closed until September though, and all establishments that re open in the coming weeks and months will have to have ways and means of customers staying away from other customers and staff the best they can.

Pubs and restaurants are set to be reopening soon in the UK, to try and get the economy restarted. Barber shops are set to be opening their doors in a month or so too, to many crazy-haired people’s delight.

In other parts of the world, Coronavirus seems to be sort of subsiding as well, but not everywhere. The USA still accounts for more than 1/4 cases worldwide, and is said to be on the rise again in states like California, as the whole country passed the 2 million cases mark recently.

These are recent stats from the worldometer website, regarding some other countries.

And as you may know, there are protests going on in London, and in the USA which are widespread. Officials are starting to get worried that these gatherings are going to cause a new spike in Coronavirus cases, as people are often very close to eachother for long periods of time. If you’ve seen a picture of a group of protesters, you’ll know what I mean; almost no social distancing guidelines being followed at all. But, as always, time will tell.

There are mixed reports regarding the asymptotic side of Coronavirus, as WHO claims that these cases aren’t common, whilst there are still asymptotic people being tested positive for the virus. It’s also been discovered recently that the virus may not survive on surfaces as well as initially thought… which is great to know 5 months into the pandemic. This even more solidified that there is a lot of conflicting information on the virus, with reputable sources suggesting different things to eachother, so it’s hard to figure out what to do and what to believe. But to give credit where it’s due, scientists are working very had around the clock, and it’s hard to work out everything about a disease whilst the pandemic is ongoing.

As of today, June 9th, 409,571 have reportedly lost their lives due to Coronavirus, or have the Coronavirus mentioned on the death certificate, with 3.2 million active cases, and 3.5 million recoveries.
