Dutch Crime Lord Willem Holleeder has finally been brought to justice after his sister gave evidence against him implicating in at least five murders. He will now at age 61 most likely die behind bars.

An Unusually Popular Godfather
Holleeder who rose to notoriety for his part in the 1983 kidnapping of beer magnate Freddy Heineken never became the pariah you would have expected him to become given his crime, but instead almost became a cultural icon appearing on a popular talk show and seeming to be popular with sections of the community. However behind the facade of lovable rogue lay the face of a cold-blooded killer, and it was this that turned his sister against him (possibly aided by the fact that he allegedly wants her dead). The only saving grace was that generally, it was other criminals that he ordered killed. The five victims were:
- Sam Klepper, Fellow criminal – shot dead, 2000
- Cor van Hout, friend Brother in law and ex-accomplice – shot dead, 2003
- Willem Endstra, property developer who allegedly plotted to Kill Holleeder – shot dead, 2004
- Kees Houtman, drug dealer 2005
- Thomas van der Bijl, bar owner and family friend and probable Fellow criminal- shot dead, 2006
