Recently, a grooms special day was made even more special after he discovered he won a whopping £10,000.
57-year-old Richard from Windes was, obviously, very preoccupied on the day of his bet, as he was getting married.
And, with your wedding set to be the best day of your life, there was no disappointment for Richard!
He finally got a bit of time to check the footy scores after the celebrations, and the bet he’d forgotten about, and to his delight, he was a cool £10k richer.
He staked £25 on a Betfred special, which included games between Scottish sides such as Arbroath and Ayr, Annan Athletic and Queen’s Park, and also English Football League matches between Burton Albion and Doncaster Rovers, AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra, Leyton Orient and Crawley Town, and Newport County and Oldham Athletic.
After seeing the win, he only believed it was right to start getting the drinks in!
Richard, the lucky groom and football bettor, told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s fair to say I was otherwise engaged getting married, so didn’t check my phone for the results until later when I saw a lovely sum of money in my account.
“I always put this kind of bet on and I’ve picked up bits and bobs in the past.
“I’m sure we’ll put it to good use. As for a honeymoon, we’ve booked a nice hotel in Chester.
“I’m the luckiest man alive – and not just because of my bride.”
