Current German Defense Minister and likely next European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen has spoken out for the first time on Brexit – indicating that she hoped the UK would have a change of heart. However this was tempered with a warning to the British parliament to sort out its side of the exit deal, and she took the opportunity to reiterate the fact that she regarded the current deal brokered by outgoing PM Theresa May as a good one. Thus any negotiations going forward may be a little less easy than the two possible new PMs seem to think. The prospect of a no-deal Brexit seem to increase every day.
