The search for two missing Teenage girls Mirella Gregori & Emanuela Orlandi who disappeared within 40 days of each other back in 1983 continues to this day, and in the latest attempts, the Vatican has begun searching the little known Teutonic Cemetery which is off-limits to the public and is defended by the Swiss Guard.

The most search took place on 11th July but it only deepened the mystery as no bones were found – even those of the princesses who were supposed interred there. However, two Ossuaries were discovered during the excavations and forensic test are currently underway to determine if the bones belong to either of the girls. Last year a further excavation discovered bones thought initially to be from the girls, however, they turned out to be from a Roman man who died nearly 2000 years earlier.

We hope that finally an end can be put to this mystery and so give the families peace at last.
