Coronavirus has made 2020 the worst year in history for some people, going into lockdown for 6 months then when coming out of lockdown, cases began to surge up and that resulted in the UK going back into lockdown for another 4 weeks. This is not what the UK wanted but the worst could be over with new news about the vaccine coming out soon!
The NHS has said that they are ready to provide the new coronavirus vaccine as soon as possible and as fast as possible. The vaccine has finally been made and could be the end of coronavirus if the vaccine really works on everyone. The vaccine is said to train the immune system to fight off the deadly virus and to ensure they not getting the virus when in contact with someone with the virus. This is some great news however this is not the end straight away!
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said that he doesn’t know how many people he needs to vaccinate before the world goes back to normal since cases are rising in the UK massively with over 20,000 cases a day recently and with some days it is going just below 20,000 cases.
Once 2020 is over, the vaccine is going to be rolled out to everyone in a mass rollout in 2021 to try and stop the virus from getting worse and worse and spreading to those who are vulnerable.
“So the trials can tell you if a vaccine is clinically safe and if it’s effective at protecting an individual from the disease. What we can’t know, until we’ve vaccinated a significant proportion of the population, is how much it stops the transmission of the disease.” said Matt Hancock.
