Hosts Brazil have won the 2019 Copa America beating Peru 3-1 in a game which Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus won’t forget in a while. He was arguably the man of the match pulling off a rather obscure hat trick – scoring once, assisting in another goal, and then getting sent off! However, this will not dampen the countries celebrations as Brazil picked up the trophy for the 9th time (their last win was back in 2007).

Peru who last won the trophy back in 1975 upset two-time reigning champions Chile in the semi-final, gave a good account of themselves in the match and after Jesus was sent off Brazil had a few nervy moments before sealing the game with a 90th Minute Penalty. Unfortunately for those of us who sat up to watch it, the beautiful game it was not with only 5 shots on target in the whole game and plenty of stoppages thanks to 46 fouls, six yellow cards and the sending off.
