Canadian police believe that the two men charged with the murder of a university professor and suspected in the murder of a young Australian-American couple are still on the run. They suspect they are in the surroundings of a remote town in northern Manitoba.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said officers searching the area found a burned vehicle that they believed was linked to Kam McLeod, 19 and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, in the town of Gillam, Manitoba.

A RCMP spokesperson said: “We can now confirm this vehicle is the same vehicle the suspects were travelling in,”

Police have received 80 tips over the last two days and have warned the public to watch for the men but not to approach them.

Police are using dogs, high-tech equipment and multiple police forces, the RCMP are continuing to look around the town for the two teen suspects. No cars have been stolen from the town and the only road you can travel in and out of the town is being closely watched.

The town is more than 2,000km from Highway 37 in northern British Columbia. This is where the body of Leonard Dyck, 64, was discovered on July 19th near the burned-out first car McLeod and Schmegelsky had been known to be travelling in. Four days prior, the Australian-US couple were found shot dead 500km away on the same highway.

One of the suspect’s, Bryer Schmegelsky, father had told police that he believed his son wanted to die in a “blaze of glory” and that his son was in pain.

The pair were considered missing but turned into suspects on July 23rd.

The pair are still on the run…
