Burger King is seemingly using their social media presence for good, as they have stopped using Instagram for themselves.

With more and more businesses being affected by the coronavirus restrictions, Burger King has stopped using Instagram for its own services, and started offering advertisement for smaller food businesses.

For goodness knows how long, whilst businesses are still suffering most likely, Burger King will be advertising for smeller businesses all across the country.

A spokesperson for Burger King UK said recently: “There’s more to life than the Whopper.

“There’s Roti King, Sultan’s Palace, Tayyab’s, Eco, Dumplings Legend, Ochi’s, Damak, Platzki… In short, there are many great dishes from thousands of restaurants that deserve to be as famous as the Whopper.

“As we head into Tier Three across more parts of the country, it’s clear independent restaurants need all our support. So we decided to give you a break from our burger pics and make our Instagram available to all these restaurants.

“Until they can reopen, they can advertise on our Instagram for free.”

The company added: “Friends from the hospitality industry: if you want us to share your signature dishes on Instagram, post it with #WhopperWithFriends.”

The food and hospitality sector is continuing to suffer due to the coronavirus restrictions, with more and more businesses coming close to shutting down every day. In Tier 3, only takeaways are allowed to operate, as sitting in is banned.

As London has moved into Tier 3, one restaurant owner has said he will lose around £50k in bookings due to the new restrictions, and many more businesses will be in the same position no doubt, so it’s important that these bigger, stable businesses support smaller ones where they can, as Burger King continues to do here.
