Bob Weighton, from Alton, Hampshire, has recently been named as the worlds oldest man, after 112 year old Chitetsu Watanabe sadly passed away on Sunday.

He has a customised number plate to mark his 111 years old today

Chitetsu Watanabe died aged 112 on Sunday only a few days after receiving a Guinness World Record certificate.

Mr Weighton can now expect to receive a certificate of his own, although he says he takes no satisfaction from the milestone. He himself turns 112 next month.

“Well, I don’t really feel satisfied because it means someone else has died,” he said.

Mr Weighton, the former teacher and engineer who still lives in his own flat, said living to such an age was “not something I ever intended, wanted or worked for, it’s just one of those facts of life”.

“You might find it amazing, but it’s just one of those things,” he added.

When he celebrated his 111th birthday last year, he attributed his long life to “avoiding dying.” Great advice, Bob!
