Bitpoint, a licensed cryptocurrency exchange based in Japan, has been hacked for $32 million in cryptocurrency.

According to a CoinDesk Japan report on Friday, Bitpoint stopped all withdrawal, deposit and trading services on Friday morning until further notice, after it noticed irregular withdrawal from its hot wallet on Thursday.

It is not yet clear at this stage which types of assets were lost, the exchange offered trading for five cryptocurrencies: bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ether, litecoin and ripple.

The price of Bitcoin has been on the rise again recently.

The exchange’s parent company Remixpoint Inc. said in an announcement that $23 million of the illegal outflow belonged to its customers.

The hot wallet actually contained five cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. It said it hasn’t discovered any funds missing from cold wallets. The exchange was among cryptocurrency operators ordered by Japan’s Financial Services Agency to improve internal controls following the 2018 hack of Coincheck.

It’s unclear what the company wants to do moving forward, but it’s expected that they will launch a full investigation in to how the cryptocurrency was stolen, and how they’re going to try and get it back.
