In the UK the total number of Coronavirus deaths totals 42,222, after a rise of 69.

New numbers are set to be released later today.

The rise consists of 65 in hospitals across England, with the others coming from all settings in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. The youngest death related to the Coronavirus in the past 24 hours was a 13 day old baby, who sadly passed away. The age range of those who sadly died was 13 days and 96 years, and 3 of the patients had no underlying health conditions, including the 13 day year old baby.

Because this total didn’t include English care home and home settings, the total that is set to be released later today will be much higher.

This is because, so far, the health care departments that report on the Coronavirus deaths in settings such as care homes haven’t released any numbers yet.

In other news, the government and NHS have scrapped their test and trace system. This is due to a large number of issues that have arisen with the use of it, and the errors in counting and tracing. At this point, it seems as if it’s better to carry on tracing and locating those infected without its use.

There are now over 8.4 million cases worldwide, with 3 million active ones. The USA still accounts for a large number of all time cases, and it seems almost 1 in 3 active cases worldwide are located in the USA. Indian, Brazilian, Russian and American cases are still rising at quite an alarming rate, despite the virus rate coming down in other countries, such as our own and others in the UK.

There is also a new drug that is being used to treat Coronavirus. I say “new”, but it is in fact not new at all… it’s just a new treatment for Coronavirus. It’s been proven to reduce the severity of cases in ill people, and has already saved plenty of lives. You can read more about this drug here.
