27 prisoners from 14 different prisons have been infected with Coronavirus.

There is currently a lot of uncertainty regarding prisons.

Officials have announced that 27 prisoners in 14 different prisons have been diagnosed with Coronavirus, but these numbers are expected to be more.

The ministry of justice announced this at 1pm today. This is a rise of 8 since yesterday.

Other countries have released some inmates from prison in a bid to stop the spread, with over 80,000 prisoners around the world being temporarily freed because of the virus.

An 84 year old was reported to have died yesterday after being diagnosed with the virus. He was in jail for sexual offences it is believed. He had underlying conditions. Regarding the death, a spokesman said: “As with all deaths in custody, there will be an independent investigation by the prisoners and probation ombudsman”.

Numbers inside of prisons continue to rise, with no clear indication of how they’re going to be slowed down.
