NLWC Rockies v Cubs Looks Like a Pitchers Duel

As a neutral you have to feel a little sorry for both these teams with both having just lost their Division tie break games, the Cubs  3-1 at home to the Brewers and the Rockies 5-2 at the Dodgers. Neither team found much rhythm on offence in those games and this one could end up being a pitchers duel.

The starters have been announced and although anything can happen in Baseball this has the look of a low scoring game with 5 times All Star Jon Lester opening of the Cubs. He has plenty of post season experience being a 3 time World Series winner including with the Cubs in 2016, and his season ERA is 3.32 which is slightly better than his career average.

Facing him will be relative newcomer Kyle Freeland who has had a breakout season with 28 wins and a respectable 3,39 ERA. More importantly he seems to have been getting better as the season progresses and he has been very impressive through September.

So with star pitchers on the mound this could come down to the Bullpen and this in our opinion would give the Rockies a slight edge.

Prediction

We are going with the Rockies in a low scoring game – with extra innings a distinct possibility.
