The A’s blasted back-to-back homers in consecutive innings for the first time since the Bash Brothers’ heyday of 1997 to take the finale in San Diego. Franklin Barreto, Josh Phegley, Mark Canha and Matt Olson provided the thunder, backing an excellent start from Frankie Montas (6 2/3 IP, 1 ER), and Jed Lowrie added a two-run shot in the eighth. Joey Lucchesi lasted just 1 2/3 innings in his return from the DL, and while Christian Villanueva hit his first homer this month, the Padres couldn’t much going at the dish.
