Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Matt Joyce went deep as Daniel Mengden dominated across eight scoreless innings and the A’s topped the Rays in the finale at the Coliseum. Mengden exited without recording an out in the ninth and yielded three runs, but relievers Josh Lucas and Blake Treinen kept the Rays at bay after Wilson Ramos’ two-run double and Christian Arroyo’s RBI double. The A’s Stephen Piscotty knocked a two-run double in the 2nd, chasing Tampa Bay starter Ryne Stanek from the game. Ryan Yarbrough followed Stanek in relief, yielding an RBI single to Mark Canha and nothing more; Yarbrough tallied nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
