The 2023 Baseball season is upon us already and it looks like being a classic with double-digit teams having a realistic chance at making a run for the World Series. Anyway below are our predicted finishing orders for the American League Divisions.
AL East Predictions
The division looks like being a two-team race with the Blue Jays just getting the nod from us over the Yankees. This is based on their fearsome starting rotation of Kevin Gausman, Alek Manoah, Jose Berrios and Chris Bassitt which looks like the best in the AL. They also have the edge in batting power with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, George Springer & Matt Chapman springing to mind. They won’t run away with it but we expect them to get a first-round bye.
On The Up
The Baltimore Orioles surprised many (including us) last year and there is no reason to think they will fall back. Can they push for a Wild Card? Probably not but things are looking up for their long-suffering fan base.
The Rays & Red Sox look like battling it out for the wooden spoon and we will be shocked if either is in the postseason.
Team | Wins | Losses |
Toronto Blue Jays | 94 | 68 |
New York Yankees | 91 | 71 |
Baltimore Orioles | 81 | 81 |
Tampa Bay Rays | 76 | 86 |
Boston Red Sox | 72 | 90 |
AL West Predictions
2022 World Series Champions The Astros are near perennial contenders and it would be a brave person who bet against them making the postseason again this year. They should win the division with some ease and are our tip for the No 1 seed.
The Mariners look good enough to take second while it’s hard to see any of the oper three teams being above 50% come season end.
Team | Wins | Losses |
Houston Astros | 96 | 66 |
Seattle Mariners | 86 | 78 |
Texas Rangers | 77 | 85 |
Los Angeles Angels | 70 | 92 |
Oakland Athletics | 64 | 98 |
AL Central Predictions
This looks like being the most competitive division in the AL this year. This means they are likely to beat up on each other and the winner might not get to 90 wins. It could be very close however we are just siding with The White Sox to edge out last year’s winners The Guardians. The Twins will push them close. Both The Tigers & Royals still look a season or two away from competing.
Team | Wins | Losses |
Chicago White Sox | 88 | 74 |
Cleveland Guardians | 87 | 75 |
Minnesota Twins | 85 | 77 |
Detroit Tigers | 70 | 92 |
Kansas City Royals | 70 | 92 |
Wild Card Teams
NY Yankees
Cleveland Guardians
Seattle Mariners
So there we have it our far too early guess at how the season will pan out. You can check out how we did with our predictions last year here.
