Luton Town FC – The Hatters

Luton Town is Bedfordshire’s premier football team, formed in 1885, and of course winners of the Football League Cup in 1987. They have played in the Football league for the majority of their history. They were the first professional team in the South of England, turning such in 1891.

Luton joined the Football league in 1897 and stayed for three seasons before joining the Southern League. In the 1920-21 season, they were elected to the newly formed Third Division and were continuous league members until 2008-09.
