Makeup artist Hector Espinal has shared his concealer hacks for hiding dark circles

Rihanna’s makeup artist has shared his best concealer hacks for covering dark circles on EVERY skin tone.

Dark circles are one of the features that many of us want to cover up. Many search around the shops to find that one concealer which will do the job of covering dark circles. There is many causes of dark circles, the most common causes are:

  • fatigue
  • age
  • eye strain
  • allergies
  • dehydration
  • sun overexposure
  • genetics

If you have tried everything but nothing is working, makeup artist Hector Espinal has all the concealer hacks you need to use to get them covered.

Forget the ‘v’ technique if the dark circles are severe.

The ‘v’ technique is when you apply concealer from the inner corner of the eye down to the top of the cheekbones and back to the outer corner of the eye.

If you do use this technique use your finger or a damp sponge, also do not use too much concealer as it will make lines more visible.

If your dark circles are severe do dots of concealer then buff it in with a brush.

Always go a bit lighter than your skin tone

No matter what shade of foundation you wear always go a little shade lighter than your foundation as this will add dimensions. It will disguise the fact that you have dark circles.

Do not use the red lipstick trick!

According to Hector he did not see a difference when doing it, he said it is best to use a peachy concealer instead to cover dark circles. If you do red you will see the red when you apply concealer over the top.

Light skin tones often have puffiness, not darkness

People with really light skin tones are often getting puffiness rather than dark circles, one way to fix it is to put your eye cream in the fridges to cool and depuff before applying concealer.

Use a brush!

Everyone loves the makeup sponges but it will not give you full coverage to conceal dark circles. Hector says you will get more coverage with a brush and can give precise placement for the concealer.
