How to have and grow long strong hair…

If you are wishing for long strong hair but do not know how to achieve it here is how…

Look after your scalp

A dry unhealthy scalp can prevent the re-growth of healthy hair, if you use a lot of hair styling products it is good to exfoliate the scalp. By exfoliating the scalp you will remove build up. One to try is the Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt, £17

Regular trims

You should be going to the hair salon 6-8 weeks for a trim, it is the number one tip for growing hair long and strong. It will prevent split ends and make your hair look a lot healthier.

Consider Supplements

The right supplements will help your hair grow and maintain hair growth. Many can increase hair strength and elasticity so damaged hair will become healthy. Most hair supplements will contain the same ingredients which are: Vitamin C, Biotin, Vitamin B3, and Vitamin A, all of which have been shown to be essential for hair growth.

Do not leave your hair to air dry

Everyone thinks that you are doing your hair a favour by leaving it to air dry as it protects it from heat damage. However, leaving your hair wet could be damaging your hair and causing it to have split ends. Wet hair swells which puts pressure on the cuticles and causes them to break. So it is good to use the hair dryer if you use some heat protecting spray.

Keep your heat styling tools under 185 degrees

To avoid any hair injuries use a small amount of heat styling tools as possible. Always use heat protecting spray and use under 185 heat to prevent major hair damage. Cutting down on the heat and tools means your hair will be stronger for longer!

Keep your hair from the sun

Hair can burn just like skin can. UV rays act on the hair like bleach leaving our hair weaker and more vulnerable to breakage. The sun will lower your hair’s moisture content, cuticles will be raised and broken,  this leads to the hair being dry, dull, overly porous and hard to manage.

Do not wash your hair every day

If you wash your hair everyday it will strip the follicles of their natural oils, leading to split ends and dull looking hair. Your scalp will also dry out leading to dandruff and hair loss, if you have dyed hair your colour will fade faster if washed everyday.
