Oily Skin – what is it?

This is a quick guide for people who have oily skin or would like to know about this skin types- what products should you be using.

Oily skin happens due to having too much sebum; sebum is the waxy/oily substance that helps protect the skin. Sebum is essential for healthy skin but too much can lead to clogged pores and of course oily skin.

Oily skin has many characteristics theses are:

·         Greasy and/or shiny skin

·         Thick complexion

·         Larger pores

·         T zone is oilier. (forehead, nose, chin)

For oily skin you should use gentle products that are oil free; there are also some key ingredients that you should use when you have oily skin, these are benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and beta-hydroxyl. They may fall in acne products, but they are good for oily skin. It is also important to use products that also have no more than 1% of acid
