2 days out! Canelo will go up against Kovalev in a 12-round bout for Kovalev’s WBO world light heavyweight championship at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas! Canelo will be making the 15 pound boost up to that division to fight Kovalev, however there will be a lot of fans wondering what will happen to the Mexican Champion if he wins this fight in the next few days! The old Welterweight and Middleweight champion will be hoping to win this bout and become a world champion in the light heavyweight division!
Kovalev has been the world champion since the 2nd February 2019, beating Eleider Alvarez via unanimous decision to win back the WBO world light heavyweight championship, after losing it to Eleider Alvarez on the 4th August 2018! His most recent fight was against Anthony Yarde, who originally called out Canelo to begin with but then lost against Kovalev, he won this fight via TKO in the 11th round and now has the chance to fight the best Mexican fighter in the world!
Canelo will be going up to the light heavyweight division, however he will be going to be staying in this division more likely since he will have worked hard to get up into the division. He could go up against Artur Beterbiev for the WBC and the IBF world light heavyweight championship and win more championships in that division! What will Canelo end up doing?
