UFC Fight Night Velasquez Vs Ngannou Over Before It Began

The first UFC Fight Night on ESPN in the States took place this past weekend, and the organisation were keen to show their new broadcast hosts and new viewers, how exciting and diverse this sport can be. The headline fight between former champion Cain Velasquez and former title contender Francis Ngannou, was over almost before it began with Ngannou gaining a TKP by way of punches after only 26 seconds of the first round.  Ngannou is keen to move forward and challenge once again for the title, whilst Velasquez may have to go back to the drawing board.  The end of the fight has proved to be a disputed outcome from many commentators, with some suggesting ring rust, others that his knee blew out and others that it ended by kicks, but either way, the result remains the same.  Cain Velasquez is undoubtedly a future Hall of Fame inductee but won’t want his career to end in this manner, so could be back once again.

The co-main event which featured the lightweight battle between Paul Felder and James Vick, has set the bar high already when it comes to best fight of the year.  The action was full-throttle from the start, and with neither competitor backing down, the action was back and forth all the way to the end of the final round.  Eventually, it was Paul Felder who gained the unanimous decision, but Vick will be an opponent that others in the division will now be wary of after such an impressive performance
