UFC 231 Two Titles On the Line
The next main UFC event 231 takes place on 9th December, in Toronto, Canada featuring not one but two title matches:
Heading the card is the Featherweight fight between current champion Max Holloway of Hawaii and Brian Ortega who holds dual Mexican and American nationality. This much anticipated bout was originally due to take place in July of 2018 but Holloway was forced to withdraw due to “concussion-like symptoms”.
The second is the women’s Flyweight title match between number one ranked fighter Valentina Shevchenko of Kyrgyzstan and former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk of Poland. They are competing for the title that was vacated by Nicco Montano when she was stripped of her belt earlier in the year (as a result of being hospitalised due to extreme weight cutting in preparation for the bout that was scheduled against Shevchenko in September 2018).
As a nod to the host country, there are no fewer than 6 Canadians on the nights’ card – Dawodu, Aubin-Mercier, Theodorou, Katona, Laprise, and Ronson
The rest of the fight card is as follows
Alex Oliveira Vs Gunnar Nelson 170lbs – Welterweight
Hakeem Dawodu Vs Kyle Bochniak 145lbs – Featherweight
Jimi Manuwa Vs Thiago Santos 205lbs – Light Heavyweight
Claudia Gadelha Vs Nina Ansaroff 115lbs – Strawweight
Olivier Aubin-Mercier Vs Gilbert Burns 155lbs – Lightweight
Katlyn Chookagian Vs Jessica Eye 125lbs – Flyweight
Elias Theodorou Vs Eryk Anders 185lbs – Middleweight
Brad Katona Vs Matthew Lopez 135lbs – Bantamweight
Chad Laprise Vs Dhiego Lima 170lbs – Welterweight
Diego Ferreira Vs Jesse Ronson 155lbs – Lightweight
Devin Clark Vs Aleksander Rakic 205lbs – Light Heavyweight
Should be an entertaining night.
