Vasiliy Lomachenko has returned to boxing and has managed to beat Ortiz on his return! He was out of action for a while, after serving in the military for Ukraine as there is a massive war going on at the moment.
The former champion joined his country in a battle against Russia as Russia invaded Ukraine. This effected everything for him.
He went up against an American fighter by the name of Jamaine Ortiz and managed to get a unanimous decision by the judges.
Lomachenko will now try and get a fight with current champion Devin Haney as he wants to regain what he lost and win back the titles for Ukraine.
Ortiz started off strong against the former champion, making Lomachenko suffer bruising around his eye in the first round. This didn’t matter however as Lomachenko won the bout.
The two time Olympic champion found his footing throughout this fight and managed to win very convincingly throughout the fight.
