GGG The New Champion, But is he the Same as Last Year?

GGG is one of the greatest fighters in the world, he has been the champion for almost 10 years and each year he has held one world title. He could be known as the best in the middleweight division right now since Canelo is going up to the light heavyweight division but he isn’t the same as he used to be after fighting Canelo the second time and losing all of his titles and allowing Canelo to become the unified world middleweight champion. He isn’t the same fighter as he used to be, maybe age has finally caught up to him!

His most recent fight was against Sergiy Derevyanchenko and even though he was knocked down in the first round and had a cut eye, fans around the world believed that he managed to win the fight and do enough to win the IBF world middleweight championship, however the judges and referee said that GGG won the bout. Golovkin was named champion with all three judges calling him the winner, two with 115 – 112 and one calling it 114-113! The bout was extremely close and questioned if he will be able to replicate what he did a few years ago and fight Canelo and win the bout, since he is wanting to fight Canelo in the future.

At the age of 37, he is still a great fighter, but since he isn’t the same as he once was, he may not be able to fight Canelo and win the bout. Canelo is still getting better and better at his reflexes and his reactions towards a punch, as GGG seems to be getting worse and worse, however right now he is the champion and there could be another bout between Derevyanchenko and GGG for the titles once again.
