Former Cruiserweight Champion Wins First Heavyweight Bout!

Oleksandr Usyk had his first heavyweight bout on Saturday against Chazz Witherspoon, this has been a long time coming for the former champion, he has been wanting to become a heavyweight fighter since he beat Tony Bellew on the 10th November 2018, managing to knock him out in the 8th round of the fight. A year later, he is fighting in the heavyweight division and looking like he is going to become the next heavyweight champion of the world if he keeps his form up and keeps his training up.

The fight last 8 rounds and could have lasted the whole 12 rounds, however Chazz Witherspoon put up a good fight, however he was unable to continue after the 7th round and stayed in his corner, meaning that the fight was won via TKO. Usyk managed to prove that he could fight in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight division. This proves that Usyk has what it takes to win the bout against both Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua or Andy Ruiz Jr, depending on who wins the bout in December for the undisputed heavyweight championships of the world.

He won’t be able to fight any of the champions as of yet, however he could be fighting the winner of the December bout in December, however he will be wanting to fight someone with the same skill set as the champions to see if he has what it takes to become the next heavyweight champion of the world in the future of boxing, however this may take another year to find out. He is one of the best fighters in the world right now and is slowly working his way up!
