Super middleweight champion Callum Smith has been wanting to fight the current pound for pound fighter Saul Canelo Alvarez. This has been in the works since he started his talks with Sergey Kovalev and could have been the fight, we saw that night, however after beating the light heavyweight fighter, he wanted to get another middleweight fight on the go. Callum Smith was the first fight they tried to go for. This fight has been rumoured for so many months. however now we can say this fight may not happen since one of the teams rejected the offer that was given to them!
On Thursday, the offer towards Callum Smith was rejected by him and Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing! “He’s an idiot, Callum Smith is a good fighter and has an amazing shot of beating Canelo and he turns it down?” De La Hoya said. This fight needs to happen, since Smith has said that he is the man that can beat Canelo as well as Floyd Mayweather Jr! Smith is the fighter everyone is thinking can win the fight against Canelo. This needs to happen and still could happen if the offer gets better.
Canelo will be looking for another fight since his fight against Callum Smith has went downhill, he could go for a light heavyweight fighter, and or go for the GGG fight and have a third and final fight. Canelo will be looking into more fights and will have one soon.
