Brief History of Deontay Wilder!

WBC World Heavyweight Champion, Deontay Wilder! Deontay Wilder is one of the biggest names in boxing, right now because of the controversial draw against Tyson Fury, but before that he was one of the only boxers to knockout every opponent he has ever fought! 41 fights, 40 wins, 39 via KO and 1 draw. He is one of the best! Wilder has been boxing for a while now, some people believe he can’t box properly, but that doesn’t stop him knocking out nearly everyone he goes up against. Other than Tyson Fury, no one has given the Bronze Bomber a fight! Everyone he has went up against has failed to get close to winning the fight. Will anyone be able to beat this man? Anthony Joshua? Tyson Fury when they have their rematch? Oleksandr Usyk? The Bronze Bomber could be undefeated by the end of his career!

Deontay Wilder was born on the 22nd October 1985 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He went to Tuscaloosa Central High School and in 2004 he graduated. Before trying to get into boxing, he wanted to become the next best thing with football. His main dreams were to either become a professional footballer or professional basketball player. Wilder’s childhood life is very secret and not much is known about what else he did, however with him having an early marriage in 2009 and managed to get 2 sons and 2 daughters, however.one of the kids suffered from spinal defects, Wilder had to quit his dreams and try to provide for his family. He took up loads of jobs to try and earn a living, but by the end of it, he chose boxing. Boxing was the main source of income. Now, that Wilder looks back on his childhood dreams, he’s probably glad he went into boxing!

In 2008, Wilder started his boxing debut. He fought Ethan Cox at the Vanderbilt University Memorial Gymnasium, Nashville and managed to pick up a win in the 2nd round! Wilder went onto knock out every opponent that stepped in his way, over 32 fights were won via KO, after 32 fights he went up against the WBC champion at the time. Bermane Stiverne. 17th January 2015 was the day of the fight, Wilders first major title shot, he won the fight after 12 straight rounds of boxing over unanimous decision. The Judges were; Abalaide Byrd, who scored 118-109 to Wilder, Jerry Roth, who scored 119-108 to Wilder and Craig Metcalfe, who scored 120-107! Wilder went on to knockout every opponent since that day and became the longest WBC champion of all time!

His last two fights almost ended his streak however, Luiz Ortiz almost knocked Wilder out throughout the fight, but Wilder managed to stay up and win the fight via TKO in the 10th round Tyson Fury, however, Wilder got lucky, Fury ran rings around him and yet the Judges managed to call it a Draw over Split Decision! Since these two fights, fighters like Joshua believes they can beat Deontay Wilder. Wilder will most likely go down in history as one of the greatest fighters in the world. Having 41 fights and nearly knocking them out. 95% knockout rate! At only 33 years of age, who knows what’s going to happen next for him, he could become the unified heavyweight champion of the world… if he ever fights Joshua!
