Best Boxers of All Time!

Boxing right now, has got so many rising stars, so many new championships and rules, and so many new faces to the sport that, not many people remember all of the old-time boxers that lit up the world of boxing back in the day! We’ve seen the worst boxing records ever, Donnie Penelton(13-166-6) and Reggie Strickland(66-276-17), but who are the past best boxers, recently retired best boxers and current best? These 8 boxers tried their best to achieve greatness, they achieved everything and gained everyone’s respect! They trained for each fight, showed there all in each fight and came out victorious after each fight, while earning the other fighters respect along the way! Each fighter had time to rest before going into another fight, instead of fighting a month after they lost! These are the best boxers from the past and present!

Past

Joe Calzaghe was born on the 23rd March 1972 in Hammersmith, London, UK. He started boxing in 1993 with the southpaw stance and he wouldn’t have wanted his career to go any better than this! His first fight was against Paul Hanlon on the 1st October 1993 and he managed to win via TKO in the 1st round! He didn’t stop there! Being in over 46 fights, 262 rounds of boxing, he managed to win all 46 with 32 via KO. Not one loss on his record! Jeff Lacy was the man deemed to beat Joe. 4th March 2006, Jeff Lacy was set to fight Calzaghe and everyone thought he was going to win… after 12 rounds of boxing… Calzaghe won on points! 2 years later, he fought his last fight against Roy Jone Jr and won that fight to end off his career! What an amazing Career he had! One of the all-time greats!

Muhammed Ali was born on the 17th January 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Started his boxing career in 1960 in the Heavyweight Division! His first fight was against Tunney Hunsaker, a man, at the time, won 17 out of 28 fights! The fight went the whole 6 rounds and Ali was declared the winner on points! Ali went 11 years unbeaten, managing to win every fight he did up until the 8th March 1971 when he went up against Joe Frazier! At the time, Joe Frazier was undefeated as well, so this was Ali’s hardest fight yet! After 15 rounds of boxing, Frazier was declared the winner, meaning Ali lost his first fight! Overall, Ali was ” the greatest”! He ended his career in 1981, but unfortunately, his final fight he lost to Trevor Berbick! He will always be remembered as one of the best boxers!

Calzaghe vs Ali… what would happen? Calzaghe has the upper hand with not losing any matches but if these two were to have a fight, it’ll be a tight matchup! Ali has the most knockouts as Calzaghe has the speed and quickness in his punches. Ali has the reactions as well! In my opinion, if both fighters fought when they were both world class, Muhammad Ali would be victorious! I think it would go down to points after 15 rounds of boxing and Ali would win the fight on points! Calzaghe will have lost his unbeaten record to Ali, but no one else would have been able to stand a chance against him!

Wladimir Klitschko, the Ukrainian machine, was born on the 25th March 2976 in Zhangiztobe, Kazakhstan, he moved to Ukraine and changed his nation to Ukraine as well! Started his professional boxing career in 1996 and managed to get a KO in the first round against Fabian Meza. The fun didn’t stop there for Klitschko, as he managed to pick up 24 wins before going up against Ross Puritty! Klitschko lasted 11 rounds before getting knockout by Ross! However, he showed his class! 69 total fights won 64 and lost 5. The 5 coming from Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Lamon Brewster, Corrie Sanders and Ross Puritty! Klitschko was one of the best fighters at the time! The best fight he had was his last against Anthony Joshua!

Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr was and still is one great fighter, fast with his hands, fast reactions! Truly great fighter! He is currently organising and exhibition match against one of the best kickboxers! He was born on the 24th February 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. Started his career 19 years later in 1996, he showed class from his debut! First match up was against Roberto Apodaca which Mayweather won via TKO in the second round! He finished his career with 50 wins and 27 knockouts! Even knocking out the UFC legend Conor McGregor, however this was Conor McGregor’s first and only Boxing fight! Mayweather had one of the best careers in boxing!

Mayweather v Klitschko would never happen due to Klitschko being a heavyweight and Mayweather being a Welterweight! If they did somehow have a fight at the same weight… Mayweather would most likely take it home in my opinion! He just has the fastest speed out of the two!

Present

Tyson Fury, the man who somehow got up from Deontay Wilders punches, was born on the 12th August 1988 in Manchester, Lancashire, UK. Started his professional boxing career with a TKO win over Bela Gyongyosi. From then on, he never seemed to disappoint anyone! Won all his fights, apart from one against Deontay Wilder where he drew! He managed to blitz through Klitschko and out class him! A lot of people say that he is awkward to fight against! He stopped boxing for a few years due to depression and drug issues, but he’s back and he’s still the same old Tyson Fury! Will anyone be able to beat him! Wilder couldn’t do it!

Anthony Joshua! The man people believe will never be beaten! The man that is predicted to become the unified Heavyweight champion of the world! Joshua was born on the 15th October 1989 in Watford, Hertfordshire, UK. Started out boxing in 2007 but started his professional debut in 2013! His first fight was against Emanuele Leo, who was undefeated at the time! TKO in the first round, Joshua starting off strong! He’s managed to win every fight since day one so far, 22 fights and 21 fights won via knockout! Winning almost all the Heavyweight championships in the process! He’s fought the likes of Klitschko, Whyte and Povetkin! He is one of the best Heavyweights in the world right now! He could beat Wilder!

We put a poll on Twitter a few days ago ask you who would win in a fight, Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua! 37 people voted, and Joshua was the winner! Joshua has the strength and movement to beat Fury, but Fury is one of the hardest men to beat since he’s very Awkward to fight against! This could happen soon… we just have to wait for this fight to happen!
