3 Boxing Records You Won’t Believe!

Not many people will believe these records that have come over the years. Most boxers only have between 40 to 60 fights, the most ever is 470 bouts! Most fighters only start boxing at 19 or 20, one man got a world title by the age of 17, and two men somehow managed to go through 7 hours of boxing! This could never be done ever again! Boxing has changed a lot since the 1900s and could potential change more over the next few years, however these are the 3 unbeatable boxing records that could take decades and if not longer to break! Apart from one of these which is the youngest fighter to ever win a world title. This could be broken in the next few years cause nowadays fighters are getting younger and younger. Could this record change in the future? Or will all three remain the same for the next couple of years?

Youngest Fighter to Ever Win a World Title!

Wilfred Benitez is the Youngest Fighter to ever win a world title! He was born on the 12th September 1958 in Bronx, New York, however, went to Puerto Rico when he was young and lived there since. He started his boxing career when he was only 15 years old in 1973! He fought against a man by the name of Hiram Santiago and won in the first round via KO! He was the next big thing in boxing and managed to win a world title at the age of 17. Beating Antonio Cervantes in 1976, just 6 months until his 18th birthday! Wilfred went on to become one of the best boxers in the world and managed to be in 62 fights and win 53 of them! Losing only 8 and drawing 1. He drew against Harold Weston on the 2nd February 1977 in a 10 round thriller! He will remain the youngest fighter to ever win a world title, this could change in the next few years however!

The Longest Fight Ever! 

The longest fight ever records lasted 7 hours, this is 110 rounds of boxing! Two men by the names of Jack Burke and Andy Bowen made history on the 6th April 1993, as they went through 110 three-minute rounds of boxing and managed to survive the until the 111th round where both fighters were too tired and dazed to come out of there corners! Jack Burke has only had 13 fights in his career and one lasted longer than any of his fights combined! Andy Bowmen however had 26 fights in his career with one that he’ll never forget! This most likely will never happen again, if it were to happen again, this would just be an exhibition match. Maybe Mayweather will do this!

Most Fights Ever!

Len Wickwar is one of the only fighters in the world to have over 400 fights! He was born in Leicestershire, UK on the 11th March 1911. Started his professional career on the 23rd October 1928, fighting Jim Young Shepherdson! He manged to win the fight in the 4th round via KO! He then went on and won over 340 bouts and 93 of these fights he won via knockout! Only losing 87 and drawing 42 in the process! This will be one of the hardest records to beat! Not many fighters fight more than 5 times a year nowadays, since they want to train for longer now! This could be beaten, but it’ll take longer than any other Record on this list. Since, not many fighters will have over 400 bouts! He had 470 bouts with 4014 rounds! No one will compare to him in the future of this sport!
