5 Times Canelo Shocked the World!

#5 Beating Austin Trout!

On the 20th April 2013, Canelo went up against Austin Trout for the WBC and WBA world super welterweight championships, a man that was unbeaten in the division and had the chance to beat Canelo’s unbeaten record, a man with 26 wins. Canelo ended up beating Trout and even knocking him down for the first time in his career and winning the fight via unanimous decision. Canelo did well to survive him and secure his name as the new rising champion!

#4 Beating Miguel Cotto!

Current hall of famer Miguel Cotto was the next opponent that Canelo wanted to beat, after coming from a loss to Floyd Mayweather and beating two other fighters, he went against a tough fighter. The fight was Canelo’s and he truly showed what he can do in that fight, getting faster and better than ever before! He won this fight via unanimous decision and went on to beat other great names. One of the best nights of his life, however more fights are coming his way!

#3 Beating James Kirkland!

Training hard and training for a knockout! Going into the fight we saw none of these fighters making it out the full 12 rounds, however Canelo scored his 33rd knockout of his career with a great overhand right to finish the fight against Kirkland in the 3rd round! This made his record 32-1-0 and Canelo’s was changed to 45-1-1. Times are changing for the young Mexican fighter! Now it’s time for the real league fighters!

#2 Beating Daniel Jacobs!

Even though GGG beat this man, he was still considered as one of the best fighters in the division with a great 35 wins to 2 losses, Canelo had to put it all on the line when fighting this man. He is constantly improving and proving to the world of boxing he is improving. Daniel Jacobs managed to get a great left hook on him, however he didn’t move, and it was too late for him to have an impact on the fight!

#1 Beating GGG!

Gennady Golovkin was the best middleweight champion at the time, and they had two fights in their entire career. One was a controversial draw as the other was an insane fight with both fighters almost winning overall, but Canelo managed to win the fight and show the world he is the GOAT of boxing and is wanting to put his name in the hall of fame! After this fight, it is believed that no one can stop him!
