Environment Secretary George Eustice has revealed that pub-goers will be allowed to finish their pints once lockdown is lifted.

Pub owners are likely looking forward to reopening.

There has been a bit of confusion regarding tier 2 pub rules, where the government said there will be “no lingering”, and visitors must leave “once their meal is finished”.

The rules also say you can only get an alcoholic drink with a sizeable meal. Some people were under the impression you had to leave as soon as you were finished, but an MP has revealed this is not necessary.

He told Sky News: “I think you can finish your drink provided you’re at a table and you’ve had a drink with a meal then, of course, you can finish your drink as well.

“What you probably couldn’t do is have a small meal and then sit at the table all night ordering drink.”

Current rules may hit Tier 2 pubs hard, as an estimated 14k out of the 21k pubs which will be in Tier 2 areas will probably stay closed, due to not being able to serve food.
