This breed has been consistently been one of the most popular choices of terriers and dog breeds in the UK and in many places over the world. They are known for their kind and live natures around people and family, even though they were originally bred to be fighting dogs.

These dogs are extremely fun to have around even though they are boisterous by nature, with the correct breed and handling with good training them small to medium sized dog can become the best family dog you can have. They love nothing more than to curl up on there owns lap and look at them for guidance and to show they need loyalty and devotion. However from their origins they have proven that they can be a loving and loyal pet and a trustworthy companion.

A staffies temperament is bold and courageous natures, however they are very reliable and intelligent even with their stubborn and headstrong side. They are a dog with a mixture of personalities. Keep in mind staffies need to be handled and trained and given direction in a household so they know what their owner expects from them. With these dogs being very intelligent they can pick up on things easily and learn new things quickly, but due to them picking up on things easily they can also pick up bad behaviours thinking they are good so keeping the dog in check is needed.

These dogs can not help showing their loving affection to their owners and will often jump up to lick their owners face, even the best trained staffies can’t resist doing this as it part of their loving personality. Even with their bad press over the years, these dogs have never failed to prove the press wrong. If the breed is trained properly and is a stable home environment they can be the most loving and loyal house pet ever.

Staffies need to be well socialised from a young age this is to help them being accepted by other family pets and any introductions to new animals much be supervised and very slowly and careful to avoid any aggressive behaviour.

The average life expectancy of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is between 12 – 14 years that us when they are cared for properly cared for and fed appropriate good quality diet to suit their ages.
