This dog breed is a mix of two breeds of small dogs and they are Jack Russell Terrier and a Pug. They are relatively need in terms of a breed as they were first introduced in the sixties. Even with them just being introduced they have become one of the most popular hybrid dog breeds around and have found their way into many home and hearts across the world.
By nature both Pugs and Jack Russell Terriers are very social dogs and are both very active dogs. So due to this the Jug cross breed has inherited the alert, attentive and loyal nature of the pug while the fun loving approach to the life of the Jack Russell and Pug.
However Jugs can be very feisty at times and when the mood takes and it important that you can tell the difference between the dog being playful or showing its dominance. This breed is incredibly intelligent and can learn new things easily however it comes with the downside of them picking up bad habits quick as well. These puppies need to know the rules as soon as they enter a home so they know what an owner expects from them.
They will form a strong bond with owners and will protect them. Even though these dogs are small they are very brave and courageous and will take anything on when it feels threatened, no matter how big the threat happens to be.
This breed also love to be kept busy and with them being so intelligent this mean you give them lots of regular exercise which should be daily and they also need a lot of mental stimulation. From the parents nature they will be very social and need a lot of socialisation in order for them to be truly happy in the house hold.
This dog is advised for household with slightly older children because they can be very boisterous and could easily knock over a small child and also so they no how to handle and behave around the breed and typically leave them alone when sleeping or eating.
The average life span of this breed is between 12 to 15 years when they are cared for right and are fed appropriate diet that suit their age. They are also low standard grooming.
